Description | Three conditional defines for adjusting monster generation |
This patch introduces three new conditional defines in CONFIG.H: GENDIFFICULTYMOD, GENERATIONTWEAK and RAMPING. By default, they are defined out, so just applying this patch and compiling should produce a game practically identical to standard Nethack. Even if defined in, one will probably want to changed their attached values.
In the spirit of games of Nethack that have customized special levels, this allows people to make versions of the game with altered monster generation probabilities, by defining in one or more of these options and changing the number they're defined as. The game can be made easier or harder, or made to get harder over time, or to make either dungeon depth or player level more important to monster generation probability. Full instructions are in config.h. Note that none of these things will change the difficulty of pre-generated monsters. | |
