Scroll of Flood

NameScroll of Flood v4
Rating72%
AuthorCrystal
ForNetHack 3.3.1
DescriptionAdds a new item, scroll of flood
Basically, it floods a circle around you with a decent radius. More specifically, reading a scroll of flood which is:

* uncursed creates water around you in a similar fashion to an overflowing fountain, but with a higher probability per square, and a chance of including your own square.
* blessed has the same effect, except you're safe from it.
* cursed restricts the flood to the square you're standing on.

It has the opposite effect when you're confused; it removes a circle of water from around your character. The radius depends on its cursed or blessed status in this case.

Also I like that reading it confused eliminates water around you. I added the underground rivers patch to slashem and tweaked the numbers so sometimes there is A LOT of water on the levels (though you can still get everywhere the long way around). And so scrolls of flood can be used to take away water, also if your vampire or have some sort of waterwalking/levitation/flying you can use them defensively reading it in a corner flooding that area and hiding behind (or in) the pool to regain hitpoints.[Quote]

You should call it the scroll of water. Then all we'd need would be a scroll of air to have one for each of the four elements![Quote]

Not a bad idea in general, but in the specific there is a major problem. There is a chance of an instadeath if your square and the eight around it get water. Instadeaths from random items are bad design.[Quote]
